Provisional 2026 edition

How the ranking works

Every score is built from published, checkable sources. Four pillars combine into a single score out of 100.

The score

01

Global scale

The size of the business worldwide, measured by its latest annual revenue in Swiss francs. For banks, operating income.

02

Swiss value creation

How much of the value is created in Switzerland. For products, whether the range legally qualifies as Swiss made. For services, whether the business was founded and is run from Switzerland.

03

Global prominence

How well known the brand is around the world, from worldwide search interest and readership across the language editions of Wikipedia over the past twelve months.

04

Impact and philanthropy

The positive difference the business makes to people and the planet: climate targets validated by the Science Based Targets initiative, ownership by or support for charitable foundations, and B Corp certification.

The rules

Who qualifies

A Swiss home: global headquarters and brand management in Switzerland, whoever owns the company. Or a Swiss-made brand: most of its products legally qualify as Swiss made.

A global footprint, and revenue of at least CHF 100 million.

Commodity traders are scored on gross profit instead of revenue, because their revenue mostly reflects commodity prices passing through their books.

Swiss made, by law

Industrial products need at least 60% of manufacturing costs in Switzerland plus the essential manufacturing step.

Food needs 80% of raw materials by weight, where Switzerland can supply them, and 100% for milk.

A watch needs a Swiss movement, casing and final inspection in Switzerland, and 60% Swiss costs for the whole watch.

Seven categories

Watches and Jewellery; Food and Beverage; Life Sciences and Health; Industry and Engineering; Consumer Goods and Design; Financial Services; Other Services.

Each brand is ranked overall and within its category.

Data sources

Company results and annual reports; market data for listed companies (trailing twelve months, October 2026); Morgan Stanley and LuxeConsult estimates for watch brands; Federal Institute of Intellectual Property guidance on Swiss made.

Prominence: Google Trends (search terms, or the company topic where the brand name is a common word) and Wikimedia statistics. Impact: the SBTi target dashboard (October 2026), the Swiss commercial register (Zefix) for foundations, and the B Lab directory. Brands inside a group take the group climate target where they have none of their own.

Brands with too little public data are listed as not yet ranked rather than guessed.
