Why Syngenta ranks No. 51
Syngenta is one of the largest crop-protection companies in the world and is run from Basel. It scores on scale, visibility and a validated near-term climate target. Its Swiss value is reduced because the company is owned by the Chinese Syngenta Group and most of its production is abroad.
Swiss connections
- Syngenta was formed in 2000 by merging the agribusinesses of Novartis and AstraZeneca.
- ChemChina completed its acquisition of Syngenta in 2017. Syngenta AG now sits within Syngenta Group, based in Shanghai.
